Job Description: The WWI Membership and Programs Manager will plan, direct and coordinate membership and association programs, including determining specific needs for products and services offered by WWI for its winery, grape grower, and associate members. The Manager will develop sales and marketing strategies with the goal of maximizing the number of Association members and use of WWI member-exclusive programs while ensuring members are satisfied while monitoring trends that indicate the need for new products and services.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Attract new members with a working knowledge of membership benefits and personal outreach.
  2. Build relationships with all WWI members and maintain those relationships to ensure the highest level of support and service is provided to each WWI member as needed.
  3. Identify, retain and promote Associate Members who can provide unique benefits to winery members, relevant to winery-specific and small business operations.
  4. Maintain a working database of Washington wineries, grape growers, and supplier companies including current and prospective members.
  5. Create meaningful relationships with members to ensure membership retention. Be responsive to membership questions about WWI benefits and legislative issues.
  6. Formulate, direct and coordinate marketing activities working with the Executive Director, Membership and Programs Committee Chair and Board of Directors.
  7. Create regular communications between WWI and its membership, including regular email newsletters and personal outreach.
  8. Work with the Executive Director to create and stay cognizant of the WWI membership budget. Specifically, monitoring membership revenue and programs income as well as travel and related expenses.
  9. Understand and be held accountable to membership and revenue goals
  10. Recruit annual Association sponsors as well as sponsors for all membership events.
  11. Assist team with organizing association events including our annual membership meeting.
  12. Develop membership and programs strategies, balancing Association objectives and member satisfaction.
  13. Contribute to promotional membership materials and collateral.
  14. Understand and communicate WWI member benefits and dues structures to potential new members

Skills and Abilities

  1. Proficiency in use of a computer and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in database management is preferred.
  2. Strong communication skills, including reaching out via email, phone and in-person meetings.
  3. Ability to act as an active learner and listener.
  4. Excellent time management and organization. Ability to work independently, showing initiative and meeting deadlines.
  5. History of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
  6. A desire to grow within the Washington wine industry, growing relationships and communications throughout the statewide wine regions.

Expectations

  1. Extensive travel to wine regions across Washington State is expected of this position including multiple overnight trips per year. Travel will be compensated according to the WWI budget and travel policy.

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  2. Working knowledge of the wine industry
  3. Experience with Association-based membership and member benefit programs recruitment and retention
  4. Understanding of state legislature is a bonus, but not required
